Thesis Title
Characterisation of the interactions of RGL1; a negative regulator of gibberellin signalling

Mr Sheerin''sresearch focused on the mechanism by which the signalling molecule gibberellin is perceived by plants. Many modern high-yield crop varieties are altered in response to gibberellin, which has important roles in plant development. He characterised the molecular switch, whereby the developmental repressor RGL1 is removed in response to gibberellin. These findings give insight into possibilities for further increasing crop yields, particularly through resistance to drought and disease.
