Prof Martin Young MA, PhD

School of Economics and Finance

Professor Martin Young is a former Head of the School of Economics and Finance. He has a long association with Massey University and took up a position here as Associate Professor in early 2003. Prior to this Professor Young was at the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He also held senior positions in the financial industry in New Zealand and was a member of the New Zealand Stock Exchange for many years.

Professor Young has strong international interests, particularly in Asia. He is past Vice-President of Asian Finance Association and past Vice-President (International) of the Academy of Financial Services. He is currently Chair of the Asian Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee and a former member of FMA Survey and Synthesis Series Editorial Advisory Board. He also serves or has served on the editorial boards of a number of journals, including the Journal of Applied Finance and the International Review of Financial Analysis.

Professor Young’s main research interests are in the areas of market efficiency, financial regulation, funds management, optimization and bond and derivatives pricing. His publications in international refereed journals include the Journal of Banking and Finance, Economic Modelling, International Review of Finance, Pacific Basin Finance Journal, The Financial Review, Journal of Property Research, and the Journal of Real Estate Research.
