Research Expertise

Research Interests

My research interests are mainly in the economics of sport. My PhD in Economics examined the justification for public spending on sports events and stadiums in New Zealand. I was also involved in the Teaching and Learning Research Initiative (TLRI) national research project 'Unlocking Student Learning' from 2006-2008, which involved the development of learning enhancement initiatives in large first year university papers. I have also worked as part of a team on the role of rugby as a sustainable livelihood option in Fiji and the estimation and contribution of sports generated remittances in the South Pacific.
