Dr Kim Hang Pham Do MSc, PhD

Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Economics

Doctoral Supervisor
School of Economics and Finance

Kim Hang Pham Do is a faculty at the School of Economics and Finance (Palmerston North), with a PhD in Economics from Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Her research works/expertise is in the areas of applied economics; integrated theoretical and empirical research; predictions of economic decision-making processes for international/regional environmental problems and resolutions. She has particularly interested in integrated modelling for agricultural economics and natural resource management and analysing the interactions between ecological and social systems on economic growth and sustainable development.

Dr. Pham Do has published in prestigious international journals, including Mathematical Social Sciences, International Game Theory Review, Environment and Development Economics. Her current research works are related to development of theoretic frameworks to address the analytical issues related to cooperation in multilateral setups with externalities and the role of issue linkage in arriving at efficient and equitable arrangements in transboundary resource management and land-use transitions, particularly in developing countries.

Before joining Massey, Kim Hang Pham Do had worked at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, where she received her PhD in economics.  She also worked as a computer programmer at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Bangkok, Thailand), and as a researcher/lecturer at the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences before moving to the Netherlands.

Her teaching at Massey includes quantitative methods for economics analysis, research methods for economics and finance, microeconomics, environmental economics and natural resource management.  She serves as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Ecology & Development and the Editorial Review Board (Economics) for the Scientific Journals International.

Kim Hang Pham Do is an environmental and resource economist.  She received her PhD from Tilburg University and a Master degree from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. She has been working on problems of resource management and decision-making under environmental risk and uncertainty. Her current work relates to several applied areas including integrated modelling for agricultural economics and water resource management; analysing the interaction between ecological and social systems in terms of food safety, economic growth, sustainable tourism development and climate change.
