Dr Nicholas Smith BA, BA(Hons), LLB, PhD
Senior Lecturer
School of AccountancyHe teaches part of the “Legal and Social Environment of Business” first year paper, and the Law of (Real) Property course. He has also taught in The Law of Business Organisations paper at Massey.
Nicholas completed his PhD at the University of Auckland in 2007. His PhD research was on the concept of equality in moral, political and legal philosophy. He has published articles on human rights, including some from his doctoral dissertation, and on statutory interpretation. His recent book (2011 Publisher Ashgate Limited) is titled Basic Equality and Discrimination. He has also published a book on business law, The Legal Environment of Business (Pearsons 2010, with Jerry Hubbard).
His research is mostly in human rights theory and focuses on discrimination and equality.
Nicholas, senior lecturer in Business Law, started working at Massey University in 1999. Before that, he lectured in public law and legal theory in the School of Law at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
